You could be forgiven if when walking on to a community in Nimbin you feel like you are in the past or a theme park, the alternate life style creates ideas and ways of living that most of us have not even thought about, solar panels, wind generators bath tubs in the open with a fire underneath, not many domestic animals because they scare the wild life, unrestricted views, long dirt roads, neighbours who go out of their way to be friendly and helpful, sharing resources, community buildings, gardens and lots of free advice, sometimes I think a project can be talked together, but it eventually gets done and with a lot more care than a tradesman will do and its free sometime a bud or two changes hands, but you always know if you share what you have then others will do the same, mobile phone reception is limited but there is always a land line you can use in emergency, child care is amazing as the tiny one room school runs holiday programs and the children do all sorts of things they simply would not get the opportunity to do in main stream school setting
